Gospel Communities

As powerful as Sunday gatherings are, much of our identity in Christ is lived out in the everyday things of life. We need more than a weekly touch point. We want to be intentionally involved in each other’s lives. We seek to do this within our Gospel Community Groups.

So what does this look like?

Family

We are DISCIPLES of Jesus Christ who are FAMILY. We have a heavenly Father but we also now have adopted brothers and sisters in Christ. We seek to love, encourage, prefer, mourn and celebrate with one another as most families would. In our Gospel Communities we do this by, eating together, celebrating each others big events, regular contact in the week, sharing hopes and pains, struggles and delights in each others walk with Jesus.

(John 1:11-13; Romans 12:10-16; Ephesians 5:1-2)

Missionaries

We are DISCIPLES of Jesus who are MISSIONARIES. A missionary is one who is sent. And we have been sent out on God’s mission to tell others about him. And so what better way to do that than being on mission together intentionally to our friends, families, communities and colleagues. Gospel Communities join community nights at the Church Café or outreach events inviting those they are praying for with the hope of showing and sharing Christ.

(Matthew 3:16-4:1; Matthew 28:19-20; John 20:21; Acts 1:8; Acts 13:2; 2 Timothy 2:2)

Servants

We are DISCIPLES of Jesus who are SERVANTS. Just as Jesus was the servant king we are told to serve one another. In our Gospel Communities we seek to do this by putting other peoples needs before our own giving a great witness to those around us of what it is like be continually transformed by Gospel. If someone has a need we seek to meet it in our GCs.

(Matthew 20:25-28; John 13:1-17; Philippians 2:5-11; 1 Peter 2:16)

Disciples who make Disciples

We are followers (disciples) of Jesus who need to be encouraged to be in God’s Word, to be challenged by it, and to be changed by it. We never stop being a disciple or in need of discipling. We want to be and make healthy disciples who go on to make healthy disciples.
